Beaches: The villa is situated just 400yds across open fields to the beautiful palm fringed beach of Cala Ferris. Around the corner is the sea front cafe bar Nautilas, ideal for lunch. A little further around a rocky headland is the lovely Punta Prima beach and the coastal path then reveals more secluded coves until reaching Playa Flamenca. Each corner turned reveals another spectacular white sand cove along about 6 miles of coast. North of Torrevieja the beaches become much larger with La Mata and its boardwalks over rolling dunes. Around the headland is a vast curving beach backed by sand dunes and the hills behind Guardamar in the distance. Guardamar itself has miles of beach backed by the pretty Spanish town and then a large forested area. Further south is the Mar Menor, a 21 mile by 8 mile lagoon, warmer than the sea due to it’s shallowness. this has many beaches with watersports available and floating play areas in season. Most of the beaches are blue flag, come and enjoy them. Activities: This is truly a year round holiday destination. The complex itself has a high proportion of residents, many with children. Most of the area’s restaurants stay open all year round including nearby Patio Andaluz with its flamenco dancers and Spanish guitarists. Torrevieja has an excellent ten pin bowls and indoor games, cinema, casino, sports centre and open air market. In summer there is a superb water park and many watersports on the beaches. Try out the new wakeboard tow wire in Torrevieja Marina. Terra Mitica, the impressive theme park is an hour’s drive away. Glass bottomed boat trips leave daily for the island or Tabarca. Inland there are thermal pools at Archena & Fortuna, just past the historic town of Orihuela. Visit Alicante, Murcia and Cartagena, all impressive cities.There is a safari park at Elche. A drive down the coast past Puerto de Mazarron to Aguilas reveals magnificent coastal and mountain scenery and Sierra Espuna with its mountains and picturesque villages is 45 mins away, or just lie by the pool in the sun! Shopping: Only a short drive or taxi ride from the new Zenia Boulevard shopping centre which features every type of store and many top designer clothing stores including Zara at lower than UK prices, all in an attractive shopping village atmosphere. Amongst the many supermarkets nearby there is the Carrefour hypermarket. Whole shark can be seen on the fish counter and almost anything can be bought there. Across the road is the Habaneras shopping centre which is a three storey outlet village with designer clothes at fantastic prices set in interesting architecture with a two storey underground car park beneath. Buy your holiday clothes and sports equipment here or Zenia Boulivard at much less than UK prices. Playa Flamenca market on a Saturday takes over a mile long road with many stalls of interest to tourists. Drive down to nearby San Pedro on Mondays for a market set amongst the twisty streets of this pretty little town, a much more Spanish occasion altogether. The beautiful city of Elche with its vast palm gardens gives an unusual backdrop to a shopping trip and its architecture is fascinating.
