Los Palacios in November

Another month has gone and we are still coping with restrictions, albeit with some easing. It has been nice to see more people enjoying the music up at the bars and it is certainly starting to feel like we are getting back to some normality. Fingers crossed the situation continues to improve. It has been a tough couple of years for everyone. Our volunteers are out every week :- cutting and trimming the palms, weeding and pruning the roses, and sweeping up the never ending mess of the pine needles. Alan continues doing a marvelous job in cleaning the post room every week. Marion has been doing a bucket collection outside the Farmacia and we thank everyone who contributes. This money is used to pay for our equipment and towards the running cost of our jeep and trailer which is needed to clear the garden waste. Our ladies continue manning the library every Friday morning.

In addition to our normal weekly work we had one of our “Blitz” clean ups. This is when all our volunteers get together on a Sunday, usually every couple of months or so, to concentrate on one particular area. This month we concentrated on Memorial Park. There was a good turn out of our volunteers and we did mowing; weeding and pruning to smarten up the park. Hopefully we will be allowed to hold our usual Memorial Service this year and so will have another clean up of the area ready for this at the beginning of November. Sector D gardening group have very kindly offered to help us prepare for the Remembrance Service and to assist in the tidying up of the area for the event. We are very grateful for their offer.

We have been trying to organize more social events but with the current restrictions this has proved difficult. However we did manage to have a get together for a game of petanque and a Barbeque. Although the day started cloudy with black clouds and forecasts of rain Elaine was ever confident that it would stay dry !” and she was proved right. A pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by all.

The Remembrance Service will take place on 11th November starting at 11.30am at Camposol Memorial park. The Mayor and Silvana Buxton will be present. Those attending must wear face masks and where possible use the hand sanitizer which will be provided.

If you wish to contact us you can do so by email which is lospalaciosgardening@icloud.com. We also have a mailbox in the post room on A under number 915.

We thank you all for your continued support.
