As always, a huge thank you!

Without your help we couldn’t continue to help those that need us most. So to all who have donated clothes, furniture, bric-a-brac, books etc. and to all the volunteers – workers in the shop, van, patient drivers, fund raisers, manning the helplines and manning reception at the Respite Home, we can’t thank you enough.

So, with your help

In October we assisted with:

  • 109 Appointments
  • 109 Translations
  • 21 Drives to hospital
  • 7 loans of equipment

And year to date to the end of September:

  • 1124 Appointments
  • 1037 Translations
  • 335 Drives to hospital
  • 64 loans of equipment

Race For Life

Race for Life on 31st October saw over 70 runners and walkers take part. Ranging in age from 5 to 82! Plus a 12 week old baby carried round by Mum and was a complimentary medal. A massive thanks to IBEX Insurance who have sponsored us for the last five years and to Mercer’s for providing ‘back office’ and printing services. Plus Mazarrón Ayuntamiento, Cruz Rojo, Policia Local and FAST for their support.

Carl Thomas and TOTAL Star Radio for providing live coverage and Bartollo from Citroën for music around the course. And congratulations to Zoe Louise Kingdon for coming first of the ladies and second overall!

The event has pledges of just under 7,000€, which is amazing.

Volunteers needed

If you can spare any time per week or month and would like to help please phone 634 362 954, email mazvolunteers@mabscancerfoundation.com or call into our Respite Home on Avenida de Los Covachos 278 on Camposol B4.

Van Workers

We are currently looking for more volunteers to help out on our van collecting and delivering furniture, clothes, bric-a-brac etc. Our van runs Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, so if you’re reasonably fit (or want to get fit – I always said it saved on gym fees!) and want to join one of our crews, please get in touch. They’re a good bunch of guys and the work that they do is vital to raising much needed funds.
