Well, it is now November, and I am very excited for the special season of Christmastime. I can finally mention it without people rolling their eyes because it is nearly here! In our Roldan shop we have a fantastic selection of Christmas Cards boxed and individual along with specially printed AAR cards, ribbons, bows, crackers, wrapping paper and tags.
We have some fantastic news regarding Gitana our 3 legged galgo who has been with us for some time. She came to us in a dreadful condition having been abused and ended up having a leg amputated. She adapted so well to having 3 legs, performance wise you would not know any different as there is nothing she cannot do and just loves the sofa too. Anyway, she has only gone and got herself a fabulous new home and family. Kate and Eric thank you so much for putting your trust in her and our charity you will not be disappointed. We will miss you darling girl, happy days ahead for you. We also said goodbye to our little boy Joe, it’s been a pleasure, enjoy your new life and family in Scotland, though I am not sure what he will think of the weather all that way up north!!
- It has been a full on month with equine rescues. I cannot believe these gorgeous creatures are still being mistreated, abused, starved, and abandoned. It started off with a phone call from the Policia in Cartagena about an abandoned horse. An elderly stallion, malnourished, with a sway back resulting in muscle, ligament, and soft tissue damage . Here at AAR we believe, where possible everything should be done to help these animals. So welcome Santana we will do whatever we can to make your twilight years enjoyable and you will have the best care……more on him next month ! . and then a few days later through the power of Instagram we were alerted to a donkey with a serious injury to his neck on a farm near Cartagena . So, after collaboration with the police, he was finally located. Apart from the horrendous conditions he was found in we knew straight away he would have to go to the hospital in Alicante because of the size of the wound on his neck. At the time of writing Camaron is still in hospital receiving treatment , we needed to ensure the wound was kept immaculately clean and treated in super sterile conditions with pain meds and antibiotics, best place for this is the hospital . Huge thanks to The Donkey Sanctuary Uk who not only agreed to cover this boy’s hospital bill but also his castration. As a small charity it really helps us when other organisations help and support us.Unfortunately this case is far from over, also there is a horse bling in one eye and with one ear , and three more donkeys , one with a huge lump on his side thought to be a hernia , and another with a dog bite on his neck . All the legal papers have been presented to court and denouncias done , this person WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS , I can promise you that .
If you would like to donate we have a long way to go with these animals …. Now housing a total of 96 equines … , here are our detail

We are very visible with yellow panels on the side of our vans. Larger items can be collected by prior arrangement. Otherwise, items can be dropped off at either of our shops in Roldan or Mazarron between the hours of 10.30-1.30pm. Andrea x
