Well December was quite a month with all the restrictions, and two weeks with the bars having to close. It was nice to see the bars and restaurants opening again albeit with limited numbers. On the first day they opened it was a lovely sunny day and such a pleasure to see people sitting outside the bars enjoying a get together with friends.

Our volunteers have been going out every week , trimming the palms, weeding and clearing up the rubbish.

On a Sunday in November we had a “Blitz” work party. Clearing the overgrown weeds, and trimming the palms, and clearing up the sludge that had oozed over onto the pavements and into the gutter. This was from Marianos to opposite the Farmacia. Our volunteers also trimmed the trees and weeded outside the Medical Centre. This involved a lot of work and a lot of clearing up and disposing of the waste. I am sure you will have seen the improvement in these areas which are used on a daily basis, by residents of Camposol.

During the month there was a request for the rescue of a cat which had managed to get itself stuck up a very high palm tree, in Calle Segovia. Although it had obviously managed to climb up it had then been too frightened to climb down and had been up the tree for two days! Garden Group to the rescue! Ladders were fetched and Carl climbed up and rescued the cat which, upon reaching the ground, bolted off without even a “meow” thank you !!

For many of us it was probably a very different kind of Christmas. A lot of us were away from our families. But still we tried to make the best of it here and in December we put up Christmas decorations outside the bars on A to get into the Christmas spirit. We hope you enjoyed these when sitting having a drink or coffee.

Our bucket collectors are now back on a Thursday and the library is open every Friday from 10 am to 12.30 and we thank you for your continued support.

On behalf of the Los Palacios Garden & Community Group we hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and we wish you all a Happy New Year with the hope that 2021 will be a better year for all of us.
